Anne Howkins will be putting us though our paces on Thursday with some exercises and discussion on the subject of genre. You may have a particular favourite, such as fantasy, romance or historical fiction, or you might have never attempted to set a story in the context of a specific genre. Well, now’s your chance.

Come along and find out about readers’ expectations of genre, experiment with different scenarios and consider the use of genre as a vehicle for commentary (such as Orwell’s Animal Farm, or the later books of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series). This will lead us into the comparative world of analogy.

The workshop starts at 7 pm at Knight’s Court, Balderton Gate, Newark.
