Crime Fiction Maestro Comes To Newark

Award-winning crime novelist, Stephen Booth, will be the guest speaker at Fosseway Writers’ Group meeting on 1 June. Stephen is the creator of Derbyshire detectives Ben Cooper and Diane Fry whose exploits, investigations and careers have progressed through an impressive sixteen novels. Mainly set in the stunning Peak District, the police duo have a complex relationship that helps draw the reader in to a believable series of police procedurals and dark secrets of disappearances and murder.

Chair of Fosseway Writers, Jackie Leitch, said “we are incredibly fortunate to have a writer of Stephen’s talents and generosity within the East Midlands and it promises to be a fascinating insight into how to write crime fiction, make it believable and, considering Stephen’s incredible success with Cooper & Fry, keep it fresh and exciting each time.”

Stephen’s first Cooper & Fry novel, ‘Black Dog’, won the 2001 Barry Award for Best British Crime Novel and became an Amazon Hot 100 bestseller in the USA. His 16th, ‘Secrets of Death’ was released in paperback earlier this month while book number 17, ‘Dead in the Dark’, is published in July.

He will be speaking at Newark Library on Thursday 1 June at 7:00 pm to members of Fosseway Writers and the event is also open to non-members. Admission is £1 and light refreshments will also be available.
